Plany
The cloud platform for hosting games. Simple enough for one server for your friends, powerful enough for a studio running a fleet — and a server costs nothing when nobody is playing.
Plany knows what a game is and who is playing it — read from your servers' own output, with nothing to install. Everything else is built on that: a server runs while people are on it and stops when they leave, the address your players use keeps working either way, and your code can run because a player just joined.
You pay with prepaid credit. Your plan grants some every month, what you run draws it down by the hour, and there are no invoices and no overage. A server nobody is playing on costs nothing to run.
Plany is invitation-only for now, and runs in one region, eu-west-2 (London).
Products
Game servers that cost nothing when nobody is playing. Give your players an address and forget about it — the next player just joins.
Deploy a container and get an address. It runs when a request arrives or when something happens in your game, and costs nothing in between.
Keep a finished game playable, paid for by its players through an item in your own Steam store.
Apply the Agones Fleets, GameServers and autoscalers you already have, with no cluster to run. Your game keeps its Agones SDK.
Ways to work
Everything you can do on Plany can be done four ways, and they all act on the same resources:
- The console at plany.cloud, for clicking.
- The
planyCLI, for your terminal and your scripts. - The Terraform provider, to declare your servers, sandboxes, networks and access alongside the rest of your infrastructure.
- The API, over gRPC, with generated SDKs for Go, TypeScript, Java and Rust.
