Terms of Service
Version 1.0 · Last updated 5 October 2026
1. In short
Plany is a cloud platform for hosting and operating video games. You can use it to run game servers, containers and related infrastructure, whether you are a studio operating a fleet through our API or an individual running a server for friends. You pay in advance using Credit rather than receiving invoices or paying for usage after the fact. You are responsible for what you run on Plany, the content you upload, and how your Players use your games. We will provide the Services with reasonable care, but we do not promise that they will always be available or uninterrupted. Some products are Preview Services and may change or disappear.
2. Who we are
In these Terms, that Plany is called "Plany", "we", "us" or "our".
Our main website is plany.cloud. Our documentation is at plany.cloud/docs and our service status information is at status.plany.cloud.
3. Who these Terms apply to
These Terms form the agreement between Plany and the person or organisation using the Services ("Customer", "you" or "your").
You may use Plany:
- as an individual for personal or hobby use;
- on behalf of a company, studio or other organisation; or
- as an authorised member of a Customer's project.
If you use Plany for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organisation.
If you are under the age required by applicable law to enter into this contract, you may only use the Services with the involvement and consent of a parent, guardian or other person legally able to contract on your behalf.
4. Closed alpha and invitations
At launch, Plany is in closed alpha and access is invitation-only.
Plany may also operate a self-serve sign-up system when it chooses to enable it. A self-serve registration page being technically accessible does not by itself guarantee that Plany will accept or activate an account.
We may limit access to particular products, regions, features or accounts during the alpha.
5. The Services
The "Services" are the Plany products and infrastructure made available to you under your account.
They currently include, where enabled for your account:
Playpute
Playpute provides game server hosting. It is designed around usage rather than simply keeping a server running continuously. Idle servers may sleep and wake when a Player connects.
You may upload your own game builds, create autoscaling server groups, capture server disks as "Schematics", and, where available to your plan, use Spot capacity.
Spot capacity
Spot capacity is offered at a lower price and may be reclaimed by Plany at any time with approximately two minutes' notice.
When Spot capacity is reclaimed, the affected server stops and its disk is retained.
There is a risk that data can be lost if the underlying host fails before the server's disk has been saved.
Agones
Plany offers Agones Autopilot and may offer Agones Standard.
Agones is an open-source project associated with Google. "Agones" is a trademark of Google.
Agones Standard is a closed-at-launch product and may be enabled only for selected Customers.
Sandbox
Sandbox allows Customers to run containers, including code triggered by in-game events.
You are responsible for the code you run, including what that code does on the internet or against other systems.
Container Registry
Plany provides a container registry at plany.cr.
At launch, registry storage is not separately billed. Plany may introduce charges for registry storage after giving notice of the change.
Secrets Manager
Secrets Manager allows you to store credentials and other secrets.
Secrets are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. Plany staff and services only read Secrets on your behalf when necessary to provide the relevant Service or respond to your instructions.
VPC and networking
Plany provides VPC networking, including firewalls and public IP functionality where enabled.
Browser terminal
Plany provides a browser terminal in the form of a free microVM. The terminal's $HOME is saved between sessions.
The terminal is subject to the same Acceptable Use Policy as other Plany resources.
Preview Services
The following products are Preview Services at launch and may not be generally available:
- Streams;
- Agones Standard;
- LeaderboardDB;
- GameDB;
- Relay;
- Passport; and
- Encore.
Additional products or features may also be designated as Preview Services.
Preview Services are described in section 21.
6. Your account
You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it reasonably up to date.
You are responsible for:
- keeping your account credentials confidential;
- protecting API keys and other authentication credentials;
- authorising people who access your projects;
- removing access when someone should no longer have it; and
- all activity carried out through credentials you have issued, except to the extent caused by Plany's breach of these Terms or applicable law.
7. Customer Content
You retain ownership of the content you upload, submit, transmit or create using the Services ("Customer Content").
Customer Content includes, for example:
- game builds;
- game server disks and worlds;
- container images;
- Schematics;
- hibernation snapshots;
- game server logs;
- terminal files;
- secrets;
- databases or data accessed through your code;
- Relay content; and
- content created by your Players.
You give Plany the limited rights necessary to host, copy, transmit, execute, store, back up and otherwise process Customer Content solely to provide, secure and support the Services and to comply with your instructions and applicable law.
You are responsible for having all rights, permissions and consents necessary for Plany to process Customer Content in this way.
A hibernation snapshot may contain a full image of guest RAM and can therefore contain anything that was present in memory when the snapshot was created.
8. Your games and Players
You are responsible for your games and for the people who play them.
You are responsible for:
- complying with applicable law;
- complying with applicable game and platform terms;
- obtaining any permissions needed to process Player data;
- providing Players with appropriate privacy information;
- handling Player rights requests where you are the controller;
- moderating Player-created content where appropriate; and
- ensuring that your game does not use Plany to do anything prohibited by these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.
This includes compliance with applicable terms from Mojang/Minecraft, Valve/Steam and other platforms or publishers relevant to your game.
Plany is generally a processor of Player personal data processed through a Customer's use of the Services. Our Data Processing Addendum forms part of these Terms where applicable.
Plany does not generally have a direct relationship with Players merely because they play a Customer's game.
9. Use of third-party platforms
Some Services interact with third-party platforms.
For example, Passport may allow Players to link Microsoft or Steam identities.
Where you or your Players use a third-party service, that service's own terms and privacy policy also apply.
Plany is not responsible for a third party changing, suspending or terminating its service.
10. Credit and payment
All Plany usage is prepaid.
You purchase or receive "Credit" which is then consumed by eligible Services at the published rates.
Plany does not issue usage invoices or permit usage-based overage beyond the available Credit balance.
Plans may grant Credit periodically. Customers may also purchase top-ups.
Current plans are:
- Hobby: $5 per month;
- Pro: $20 per month; or
- Pro annual: $200 per year, with $25 of Credit granted each month.
Usage is charged at the rates published by Plany at the time the usage occurs.
Resources may consume Credit hourly.
You can configure spend caps and balance alerts where those features are available.
Credit grants
Credit is held as individual grants.
Grants are consumed starting with the grant that expires soonest.
Unless otherwise stated:
- monthly plan Credit expires at the end of the relevant month and does not roll over;
- purchased Credit expires one year after purchase;
- Credit is not redeemable for cash;
- Credit is not transferable; and
- Credit has no cash value.
These rules do not remove any consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Product-specific balances
Some Services may have a separate balance.
For example, Streams may have its own balance.
Exhausting a product-specific balance does not necessarily stop other workloads that use a different balance.
11. Trials
Hobby includes a one-time seven-day trial that grants $5 of Credit.
The trial is available once per person/account or other eligibility criteria enforced by Plany.
You must not create multiple accounts to obtain multiple trials or otherwise circumvent trial restrictions.
12. Refunds and payment disputes
Credit is generally non-refundable and non-transferable.
However, this does not exclude mandatory consumer rights or a refund required by applicable law.
Where a payment is refunded, Plany may reverse the associated Credit in proportion to the refunded payment, to the extent permitted by law.
Payments are processed through Stripe Checkout and may use Stripe Managed Payments.
Where Stripe is the merchant of record for a transaction, Stripe's role may include tax collection, fraud handling, disputes and transaction support.
13. Running out of Credit
When the relevant Credit balance reaches zero, the affected workloads stop.
Plany keeps the associated data for 90 days after the relevant workload becomes inactive because of an exhausted balance.
During that period, Plany sends weekly notices.
If the balance is restored during the retention period, workloads will once again be able to run.
After the 90-day retention period, Plany may delete the affected data.
The retention period is subject to applicable law and any separate contractual obligations.
14. Quotas
Plany may apply quotas to resources, API calls, networking, storage or other usage.
You may request an increase.
Some quota requests may be approved automatically.
Automated quota approval can only grant an increase. It does not automatically refuse a request.
Where a request is refused, the refusal is made by a person and includes a reason.
15. Support
Support is provided through cases opened in the Plany console or CLI.
Plany staff may access the information reasonably necessary to investigate a support case, including:
- your account;
- plan and Credit balance;
- the named resource's state; and
- recent logs.
Support case content and attachments may be shown to Plany staff through a private Discord forum.
Staff may respond under a pseudonym generated for the particular case. Their actual identity is recorded internally.
There is no guaranteed response time unless Plany expressly provides one for a particular Service.
16. Security
Plany uses hardware-isolated microVMs for Customer workloads rather than ordinary shared containers.
Secrets, LeaderboardDB credentials and Relay message payloads are encrypted at rest.
Passwords are hashed using Argon2id and are not stored in plain text.
Plany does not currently offer multi-factor authentication.
No security measure can guarantee that a service will never be compromised.
If a security incident occurs, Plany will comply with applicable legal notification requirements.
17. Availability and no SLA
Plany does not provide an uptime SLA under these Terms.
The Services may be unavailable because of maintenance, failures, capacity constraints, third-party failures, network problems, Customer configuration or other causes.
Spot capacity is particularly subject to interruption as described above.
Preview Services are provided without an SLA.
Nothing in this section removes any statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
18. Changes to the Services
Plany may add, remove, modify or replace features.
We may change pricing, quotas, resource types and the availability of particular products.
For material changes to these Terms, we will normally give at least 30 days' notice.
If a change is required sooner because of law, security, fraud, abuse, a third-party dependency or another urgent reason, we may make it sooner and will give as much notice as reasonably possible.
19. Intellectual property
Plany and its licensors own the Services, software, documentation, branding and other material supplied by Plany, except for Customer Content and third-party material.
You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Services during the term of your account in accordance with these Terms.
You must not copy, reverse engineer, modify or redistribute Plany software except where applicable law or an open-source licence expressly permits you to do so.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of Customer Content to Plany.
20. Third-party and open-source software
The Services may include open-source software and third-party components.
Those components may be subject to their own licences.
Where a third-party licence grants you rights that these Terms cannot restrict, that licence continues to apply.
21. Preview Services
A "Preview Service" is a product or feature designated by Plany as preview, alpha, beta, experimental or otherwise not generally available.
Preview Services:
- are provided on an as-is and as-available basis;
- have no SLA;
- may be changed without preserving backward compatibility;
- may contain bugs or incomplete functionality;
- may be suspended or discontinued;
- may require Plany to enable access manually; and
- may have separate limits or balances.
Plany may discontinue a Preview Service without liability beyond any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
At launch, Streams, Agones Standard, LeaderboardDB, GameDB, Relay, Passport and Encore are Preview Services or closed products.
22. Suspension
Plany may suspend a Customer, project, workload or particular feature where reasonably necessary to:
- comply with law;
- protect Plany, Customers or third parties;
- investigate suspected abuse or security issues;
- enforce the Acceptable Use Policy;
- address a serious payment or fraud issue; or
- prevent immediate harm to the Services.
Where appropriate, Plany will first give a warning.
Where suspension is imposed for an Acceptable Use Policy violation, the decision is made by a person and the Customer is given a reason, subject to circumstances where disclosure would be unlawful or would materially compromise security or an investigation.
During suspension, Plany will retain Customer data where lawful and technically practicable under the applicable retention rules.
23. Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time.
Plany may terminate an account for a material breach of these Terms, unlawful use, serious abuse, fraud, non-payment where applicable, or where continued provision of the account would expose Plany to material legal or security risk.
Where appropriate, Plany will give you a reasonable opportunity to remedy the breach.
Termination does not remove obligations or rights that are intended to survive termination.
24. Data after termination
After termination, Plany will handle Customer Content according to the applicable Data Processing Addendum and the retention periods described in these Terms.
Account deletion is currently handled on request, within 30 working days, subject to legal retention requirements and technical limitations.
25. Consumer rights
If you are a consumer, you have rights under applicable consumer protection law.
Nothing in these Terms limits a statutory consumer right that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Where a cancellation right applies to a digital service or digital content, Plany will provide the notices and obtain the express consent required by law before beginning performance during the cancellation period.
26. Liability
26.1 Liability cap
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Plany's total liability arising out of or relating to the Services, these Terms, or any Preview Service will not exceed the greater of:
- the amount of Credit actually paid by the Customer to Plany in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; or
- US$100.
26.2 Excluded losses
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Plany will not be liable for any:
- loss of profits, revenue or business;
- loss of contracts or anticipated savings;
- loss of goodwill or reputation;
- loss of Player activity or engagement;
- loss, corruption or recovery of Customer Content or game data;
- indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss; or
- punitive or exemplary damages.
This applies whether the claim arises in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, misrepresentation or otherwise, and whether or not Plany was told that the loss might occur.
26.3 Customer responsibility
The Customer is responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of its Customer Content and for the configuration, security and operation of its workloads.
Plany is not responsible for loss or corruption of Customer Content caused by:
- the Customer's configuration or use of the Services;
- Customer Content or Customer code;
- third-party software or services;
- Player actions or content;
- suspension or termination of the Services;
- Spot capacity being reclaimed;
- Preview Services; or
- events outside Plany's reasonable control.
26.4 Spot capacity
Spot resources may be reclaimed by Plany at any time, normally with approximately two minutes' notice. When this happens, the affected server will stop and Plany will attempt to preserve its disk.
The Customer accepts the risk that a Spot server may stop before its disk has been successfully saved. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Plany is not liable for loss or corruption of Customer Content, game state or other data resulting from the reclamation or failure of Spot capacity.
26.5 Credit
Credit is a prepaid service entitlement. It has no cash value and cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Plany's liability in relation to Credit is limited to the amount of that Credit that was actually paid for by the Customer and remained unused when the event giving rise to the claim occurred.
Promotional, trial, plan or other Credit provided by Plany does not give rise to any right to cash compensation.
26.6 Customer indemnity
The Customer will indemnify and hold harmless Plany, its officers, employees and contractors against third-party claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from:
- Customer Content;
- the Customer's use of the Services, including its games, containers, code and outbound connections;
- the Customer's breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy; or
- an allegation that Customer Content or the Customer's use of the Services infringes a third party's intellectual property rights.
This obligation does not apply to the extent that the claim was caused by Plany's own breach of these Terms.
26.7 Confidentiality
Each party must protect the other's confidential information and only use it to perform or receive the Services.
Plany may disclose confidential information to its employees, contractors and subprocessors where reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, secure or support the Services, provided that those recipients are subject to appropriate confidentiality obligations.
The liability cap in this section also applies to liability arising from a breach of confidentiality, except to the extent that applicable law does not permit that limitation.
26.8 Non-excludable liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded, including liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
- any other liability that applicable law does not permit Plany to limit or exclude.
27. Events outside our control
Plany is not responsible for failure or delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, except to the extent applicable law provides otherwise.
Examples may include major internet outages, cloud-provider failures, power failures, natural disasters, war, industrial disputes, government action and failures of third-party services.
28. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law gives a consumer the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
29. Contact
For support, use the in-product support system.

Annex 1 — Acceptable Use Policy
Version: 1.0 Last updated: 5 October 2026
1. Purpose
Plany provides computing and networking infrastructure. You must not use that infrastructure to harm other people, systems or networks, evade legitimate controls, or break the law.
This policy applies to all Services and Customer Content.
2. Prohibited activities
You must not use Plany to:
- mine, validate or otherwise generate cryptocurrency or similar blockchain rewards;
- launch or assist DDoS attacks;
- attack, compromise or attempt unauthorised access to systems or accounts;
- perform unauthorised vulnerability scanning or network scanning;
- operate malware, ransomware, botnets or similar malicious software;
- operate open proxies or services intended to conceal abusive traffic;
- send spam or bulk unsolicited messages;
- distribute child sexual abuse material;
- distribute unlawful content;
- infringe intellectual-property rights or knowingly facilitate infringement;
- circumvent Plany quotas, Credit restrictions or trial limits;
- create multiple trial accounts to obtain additional trial Credit;
- interfere with Plany's operation or security;
- use another Customer's resources without permission;
- intentionally evade abuse detection or security controls; or
- use the Services for any purpose prohibited by applicable law.
3. Cryptocurrency mining
Cryptocurrency mining is prohibited.
Plany actively detects suspected cryptocurrency mining using workload and Player activity signals, including CPU, network and disk activity.
Detection does not itself result in automatic enforcement. A person reviews each finding before enforcement action is taken.
4. Your code and outbound connections
You are responsible for everything your containers, game servers, Sandbox code and other workloads do, including outbound network connections.
You must not use Plany workloads to attack or abuse third-party systems.
5. Games and Player behaviour
You must comply with the terms and licences applicable to your game and its platforms.
This includes, where relevant:
- Mojang/Minecraft terms;
- Valve/Steam terms; and
- publisher or platform-specific terms.
You are responsible for content created by your Players and for moderating that content where applicable.
6. Enforcement
Plany generally follows this process:
- Warning: we tell you what the issue is and what needs to change;
- Suspension: where necessary, a person may suspend the relevant resource or account and give a reason; and
- Termination: serious, repeated or unlawful violations may result in termination.
We may skip a warning where immediate action is reasonably necessary to protect people, systems, Customer data, Plany or third parties, or where the law requires it.
Data will be retained during suspension where lawful and subject to applicable retention periods.
7. Reporting abuse
Abuse can be reported to abuse@plany.cloud
